“AMETHYST"
The LACS team designed this axe as an homage to perhaps the most famous RG model ever, the RG550. The Trans Purple finish is intended to evoke recollections of the original RG550-PN as well as lean into “Amethyst,” the nickname of this guitar.
Certain features from the original design such as a top routed body, CK hardware, and an Edge tremolo system are present, intertwined with a multitude of remarkable customizations. Probably the most unique aspect is the neck-thru construction, given that the vast majority of the 550 models were bolt-on guitars.
This RG is stocked with many other high-end appointments, including a heavily figured Quilted Maple top, mother of pearl reverse shark tooth inlays, Flamed Maple neck binding and a volute on the back of the headstock. These modifications are understated, but the ultimate effect is a massive impact on the visual dynamics of this eye-catching custom.
HITTING ALL THE HIGH NOTES
Truly unique for an RG550 and not something found on the original designs, this particular model features neck-thru construction, utilizing a Maple / Purpleheart neck and center block. This affords absolutely seamless upper fret access and an impressive level of sustain. The back of the neck also features a satin finish, and, when combined with the thin/fast RG neck profile and 16” radius, there isn’t a note or solo this RG can’t attack.
FLAMES AROUND THE EDGES
This Flamed Maple binding contrasts beautifully against the dark Rosewood fingerboard and rich Trans-Purple finish, delivering a high-end, attention-grabbing accent. Each of these elements deliver an impressive level of individual refinement, but together, they form the sumptuous visual foundation of this inspired take on the historic RG550.
COVERED IN A CUSTOM QUILT
The extra-thick Quilted Maple top adds visual depth and complexity when viewed in combination with the Transparent Purple finish. The extra thickness of the top also greatly enhances the overall custom feel of the build. This depth also creates a striking appearance when viewing the guitar from any angle, as the intense figuring is prominent all the way through the entire top wood.

Musical Instruments:
At our core we are a music store specializing in guitars, pianos/keys, drums & recording gear. We are a proud dealer for many top brands including: Fender, Ibanez, Orange & Blackstar.
Music Lessons:
A huge part of what makes Faders, Faders.. is our music school. We have 12 instructors on staff that teach all ages and skill levels in guitar, piano, drums and voice. Over the years we have taught hundreds & hundreds of students the joy of learning a musical instrument. Some of our former students have even become teachers at the store!
Vinyl Records:
A few years back we thought it would be cool to add new and used vinyl records to the store. It's been a huge hit! We also recently started bringing in rock band T-Shirts & other "lifestyle" type stuff.
Our goal has always been to be a comfortable place for music lovers to hangout, shop and/or learn how to play.
